About the Course:

This internationally recognized 5-month program trains students to become Certified Diabetes Educators. The 3-month theory module covers the physiology, pathology, and management of diabetes, with detailed lessons on carbohydrate counting, insulin management, glycemic response, lab interpretation, and medical nutrition therapy (MNT). The 2-month online internship features weekly case study discussions (100+ real scenarios), offering hands-on learning in diet planning, insulin dose calculation, patient education, and lifestyle modification. Ideal for clinical nutritionists and aspiring diabetes coaches, this course equips learners to work confidently with diabetic individuals and deliver results-based nutritional care. A globally accepted certificate is provided.

Course Objectives :

  1. To provide in-depth knowledge of diabetes mellitus – types, causes, complications, and diagnosis, with a strong clinical foundation.
  2. To train students in evidence-based nutritional and lifestyle management of diabetes, including medical nutrition therapy (MNT).
  3. To equip learners with the ability to interpret lab reports, calculate insulin doses, and plan individualized meal plans for patients.
  4. To build confidence in learners to educate, counsel, and support diabetic individuals across various age groups and clinical conditions.
  5. To familiarize students with carbohydrate counting, insulin-to-carb ratios, glycemic index/load, and hypoglycemia management.
  6. To introduce learners to the use of glucose monitoring tools, insulin therapy, and diabetes medications.
  7. To provide real-time exposure through case-based online internships, developing practical skills in diabetes education and care.

What Will Students Learn ?

By the end of this 5-month course, students will be able to:

  • Understand the types of diabetes (Type 1, Type 2, gestational, LADA, MODY) and their respective management approaches.
  • Learn the role of pancreas, insulin, glucagon, and blood sugar regulation at the physiological level.
  • Master the principles of medical nutrition therapy for prediabetes, Type 1 & Type 2 diabetes, and gestational diabetes.
  • Perform BMI, IBW, and energy requirement calculations, and plan macro- and micronutrient distributions for diabetic clients.
  • Use tools such as carbohydrate counting, exchange lists, and glycemic index/load in diet planning.
  • Interpret blood test reports such as HbA1c, fasting glucose, C-peptide, lipid profile, and insulin sensitivity indices.
  • Learn the essentials of insulin types, dosage adjustments, insulin-to-carb ratios, and correction factors.
  • Understand the interaction of diet with oral hypoglycemics, insulin pumps, and continuous glucose monitoring (CGM).
  • Gain counseling and communication skills to educate patients about lifestyle changes, exercise, and emotional support.
  • Participate in a structured 2-month internship featuring weekly online sessions focused on over 100+ real-life case studies with expert mentorship and interactive discussions.
  • Receive a globally accepted certificate and become a qualified Certified Diabetes Educator, ready to work in hospitals, clinics, wellness centers, or independent practice.
