About the Course:

The PG Diploma in Clinical & Therapeutic Nutrition is an intensive 1-year program designed to build deep clinical expertise in managing medical conditions through advanced nutrition therapy.

The curriculum integrates pathophysiology, clinical biochemistry, disease-specific dietary interventions, medical nutrition therapy (MNT), functional nutrition concepts, therapeutic menu planning, and real-world case applications. Students learn to interpret lab reports, assess nutritional status, manage complex clinical cases, and design evidence-based diets for metabolic, endocrine, renal, hepatic, cardiovascular, gastrointestinal, autoimmune, pediatric, and geriatric conditions.

The 3-month internship provides hands-on exposure to real patient data, case analysis, and practical therapeutic nutrition planning.

Course Objectives :

  1. To establish a strong foundation in clinical nutrition science and therapeutic dietetics.
  2. To teach the pathophysiology of major diseases and their nutritional implications.
  3. To develop expertise in Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) across clinical specializations.
  4. To train students to interpret clinical lab tests and biomarkers for nutritional decisions.
  5. To understand disease progression and nutritional risk factors.
  6. To teach anthropometric assessments and clinical nutritional evaluation.
  7. To build skills in designing therapeutic diets for hospitals and outpatient settings.
  8. To integrate functional and evidence-based nutrition into clinical practice.
  9. To understand drug–nutrient interactions and safe supplementation.
  10. To manage metabolic disorders such as diabetes, obesity, and dyslipidemia.
  11. To design diets for renal, hepatic, cardiac, gastrointestinal, and endocrine disorders.
  12. To teach nutrition support: enteral feeds, parenteral considerations, and critical care planning.
  13. To explore nutritional management of pediatric, geriatric, and pregnancy-related clinical conditions.
  14. To build clinical documentation, case-writing, and patient counseling skills.
  15. To prepare students for real-world clinical internships and professional practice.

Key Learning Outcomes

  • Mastery of clinical disease mechanisms and their nutritional implications.
  • Ability to assess patients using anthropometry, symptoms, diet history & biochemical markers.
  • Skill in interpreting blood reports: CBC, CMP, LFT, KFT, Lipid Profile, Thyroid Panel, Inflammatory Markers, Iron Studies.
  • Expertise in designing therapeutic diets for diabetes, hypertension, PCOS, thyroid disorders, and metabolic syndrome.
  • Competence in renal diets (CKD stages, dialysis), hepatic diets (NAFLD, cirrhosis), and cardiac diets.
  • Ability to manage gastrointestinal disorders: GERD, IBS, IBD, constipation, pancreatitis.
  • Understanding of autoimmune nutrition interventions for RA, psoriasis, and Hashimoto’s.
  • Skill in pediatric & geriatric diet planning for clinical settings.
  • Ability to design nutrition protocols for critical care, trauma, burns, infections, and ICU cases.
  • Knowledge of enteral & oral nutrition supplementation for malnutrition and cachexia.
  • Competence in oncology nutrition for different cancer types and treatment phases.
  • Ability to use functional nutrition tools to reduce inflammation, improve immunity, and correct deficiencies.
  • Expertise in supplement protocols, nutrient-drug interaction awareness, and clinical safety.
  • Confidence in writing case studies, nutritional diagnoses, and therapeutic recommendations.
  • Readiness to work in hospitals, clinics, wellness centers, and therapeutic nutrition practice after internship.
