This workshop explores the nutritional requirements and physiological changes across pregnancy and the postpartum “fourth trimester,” with a focus on supporting both maternal recovery and fetal development. It covers trimester-specific nutritional priorities, including folate, choline, iodine, protein, iron, calcium, vitamin D, magnesium, zinc, and omega-3 DHA, along with the role of the placenta in nutrient transport and fetal development. Participants will also learn about emerging nutritional considerations such as myo-inositol, creatine, selenium, glycine, and lutein. The session addresses postpartum recovery, breastfeeding nutrition, gradual weight management, muscle preservation, and healing. Special emphasis is placed on practical, empathetic counseling strategies, evidence-based myth-busting, meal planning, and supporting mothers through the challenges of early motherhood.
