This module explores four major eating disorders—anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge eating disorder, and avoidant restrictive food intake disorder (ARFID)—with emphasis on their distinct clinical features and underlying biopsychosocial factors. It examines characteristic eating patterns, psychological drivers, and potential physical and nutritional complications associated with each disorder. The module also highlights key differences, including the role of body-image concerns in anorexia and bulimia versus sensory sensitivities, fear of consequences, or low appetite in ARFID. Emphasis is placed on multidisciplinary, recovery oriented care involving nutritional rehabilitation, psychological support, medical monitoring, and individualized therapeutic strategies.
